About Me

My photo
JABALPUR, 18, India
The only thing I really wish to do with my life is to inspire someone. I want to touch someone’s life so much that they can genuinely say that if they have never met me then they wouldn’t be the person they are today. I want to save someone; save them from this cold, dark and lonely world. I wish to be someone’s hero, someone that people look up to. I only wish to make a change, even if it’s a small one. I just want to do more than exist.

Take Everything Positively

A baby mosquito came back after its first flight.
Dad asked:- “how did you feel ?”
It replied:- “Dad it was wonderful. everyone was clapping for me”.
This should be our attitude towards life. We should take everything positively  in life. Everyone faces problems in his daily life. When problems are big and your strength is no longer enough to carry them. Just don't give up.
Don't think about what you haven't got. Think about what you have  and how to use it. One of the important aspect of life is to always remain happy and look towards the bright side of your life. This gives you strength to keep on going on your road to success. Find reasons to smile more often and then you will see that life will smile at you.
Believe in yourself and your abilities. Each person in this world has something unique within himself. Discover it and use it and then you'll see that people will follow your footsteps and will also respect you.
Try to help others. This simple act of helping others will fill you with joy. Try to thank people for even the smallest thing they do. For example, try to thank a sweeper for his work. Tell him that he is doing such a great work, which other people would normally hate to do And see the result yourself.
Allow yourself to laugh and find humour in the simplest of things. The simplest things in life give us the most pleasure.

Friends & Friendship.

When we look back on our younger years, we remember the people who went to school with us, the people who made us laugh, the people who hung out with us when nobody else would, and the  people who made our lives much better simply by being a part of it.
There may be somebody who is thinking about you RIGHT NOW and wishing that you were around. That's the wonderful thing about friendship-you always feel loved and cared about. The most important thing to remember is... Always appreciate the friends that you have.
A fight may come and go very easily, but a friendship could last forever.
Whether we realize it or not, everyone we know is very special to us.
Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their heart to us.
Most people walk in and out of your life. But only True friends leave footprints in your heart.
Friendship is that unique relationship that knows no difference.

Helping Others......

Some times ago,at the Seattle Olympics nine athletes, all mentally or physically challenged, were standing on the start line for the 100m race. The gun fired and the race began. Not everyone was running, but everyone wanted to participate and win.
They ran in threes, a boy tripped and fell, did a few somersaults and started crying.
The other eight heard him crying. They slowed down and looked behind them.
They stopped and came back.... All of them.
A girl with Down's syndrome sat down next to him, hugged him and asked,"Feeling better now"?
Then, all nine walked shoulder to shoulder to the finish line.
The crowd stood up and applauded. And the  applaud lasted a very long time.....
People who witnessed this still talk about it.
                       Why ?
Because deep down inside us, we all know that the most important thing in life, is much more than winning for ourselves.
The most important thing in life is to help others  win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our own race.
A candle loses nothing if it is used to light another one.

ICE NUMBER

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE."

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in ourMobile phones today!

Please spread this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest .
  Remember:-
ICE will speak for you whenyou are not able to.

Greed--An Endless Desire

It was a hot summer day. A lion was feeling very hungry. He came out of his den and searched here and there. He could find only a small hare. He caught the hare with some hesitation. "This hare cannot fill my tummy" thought the lion.
As the lion was about to kill the hare, a deer ran that way. The lion became greedy. He thought, "Instead of eating this small hare, let me eat the big deer". He let the hare go and went behind the deer. But the deer had vanished into the forest. The lion now felt sorry for letting the hare off.

In one way or the other we all behave like this lion. We are not satisfied with what we have, but tend to run behind those things which are not within our reach. We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of some thing we don't have but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. We should not become prisoners of our own greed.
Because we cannot have everything we want, we need to focus on what's important in our lives. We should learn to cope with this endless desire.

Most of us miss out

Most of us miss out life's big prizes like Nobel,Oscar,Grammy.
But we are all eligible for Life's small prizes.
Like :---
---A hug from the best friend,
---A short sleep on friends shoulder,
---A glorious sunset,
---A chat with those people with whom we feel most comfortable,
---An ice-cream when it's deadly cold,
---A silent night on the terrace,
---A slow walk on an empty road, with the person you love,on a full moon night,
So don't worry about life's big prizes.
Take care of the small ones.....

Because I'm Here

If you ever shed a tear
you can always wipe it dry..........
                                         Because I'm Here.

If ever the storm comes in
and you feel a little fear
                            You don't have to worry.........
                                         Because I'm Here.

If ever the picture you see
             seems  too  unclear
Don't let it get you down...........
                                          Because I'm Here.

If ever you're looking
             for somewhere to hide
and the shadows are getting too near
You don;t have to look far.........
                                                      Because I'm Here.

Don't feel alone
             I'm always thinking of you
                            Anything you need, just say.........
                                                      Because I'm Here.

Value

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rs100 note.  In the room of 200 people, he asked, "Who would like this Rs100 note?"

Hands started going up.

He said, "I am going to give this Rs100 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the Rs100 note.

He then asked, "Who still wants it?"

Still the hands were up in the air.

Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rs100."

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special - Don't ever forget it!

Lt. Saurabh Kalia-A Brave soldier.

Recently I received a forwarded e-mail from one of my friend which deeply touched my heart.  In this e-mail a father had described what had happened to his son who was a brave soldier, and had died in Kargil war. Further the writer had requested to forward this e-mail to as many people as we can and not to break the onward movement of this mail. I thought it would be a better idea if I write it on my Blog, so more and more people know about this incident. So here's the e-mail, read it for yourself.....

Dear Sir/Madam

SPARE 5-MINUTES from ur busy schedule .PLEASE !!!

Lt. Saurabh Kalia of 4 JAT Regiment of the Indian Army laid down his life at the young age of 22 for the nation while guarding the frontiers at Kargil. His parents, indeed the Indian Army and nation itself, lost a dedicated, honest and brave son.He was the first officer to detect and inform about Pakistani intrusion. Pakistan captured him and his patrol party of 5 brave men alive on May 15, 1999 from the Indian side of LOC. They were kept in captivity for three weeks and subjected to unprecedented brutal torture, evident from their bodies handed over by Pakistan Army on June 9, 1999.The Pakistanis indulged in dastardly acts of inflicting burns on these Indian officers with cigarettes, piercing their ears with hot rods, removing their eyes before puncturing them and breaking most of the bones and teeth. They even chopped off various limbs and private organs of the Indian soldiers besides inflicting unimaginable physical and mental torture.
After 22 days of torture, the brave soldiers were ultimately shot dead. A detailed post-mortem report is with the Indian Army. Pakistan dared to humiliate India this way flouting all international norms. They proved the extent to which they can degrade humanity. However, the Indian soldiers did not break while undergoing all this unimaginable barbarism, which speaks volumes of their patriotism, grit, determination, tenacity and valour - something all of India should be proud of. Sacrificing oneself for the nation is an honour every soldier would be proud of, but no parent, army or nation can accept what happened to these brave sons of India . I am afraid every parent may think twice to send their child in the armed forces if we all fall short of our duty in safeguarding the PRISONERS OF WAR AND LET THEM MEET THE FATE OF LT.SAURABH KALIA. It may also send a demoralizing signal to the army personnel fighting for the Nation that our POWs in Pak cannot be taken care of. It is a matter of shame and disgust that most of Indian Human Rights Organisations by and large, showed apathy in this matter.Through this humble submission, may I appeal to all the civilized people irrespective of colour, caste, region, religion and political lineage to stir their conscience and rise to take this as a NATIONAL ISSUE !!! International Human Rights Organizations must be approached to expose and pressure Pakistan to identify, book and punish all those who perpetrated this heinous crime to our men in uniform. If Pakistan is allowed to go unpunished in this case, we can only imagine the consequences. Below is the list of 5 other soldiers who preferred to die for the country rather than open their mouths in front of enemy,
1. Sep. Arjun Ram s/o Sh. Chokka Ram; Village & PO.Gudi. Teh. & Dist.Nagaur, (Rajasthan)
2. Sep. Bhanwar Lal Bagaria h/o Smt. Santosh Devi;Village Sivelara;Teh.&Dist.Sikar (Rajasthan) 3. Sep. Bhikaram h/o Smt. Bhawri Devi; Village Patasar; Teh.Pachpatva;Distt.Barmer (Rajasthan)

5. Sep. Naresh Singh h/o Smt. Kalpana Devi; Village Chhoti Tallam;Teh.Iglab; Dist.Aligarh (UP)

Thought for the Day.

Deepawali celebrations are now over and its time for the people to get on with their daily routine. Children are back to schools and colleges and have started their preparations for the upcoming exams. People are back to their jobs and business. Fun time is over. People are fresh and filled with new energy and enthusiasm. A lot of time and money has been spent on recent festivities.
The festivals may have been a time of enjoyment for some people, but for many it has been a time filled with tension and work. Think of those people who were continuously on work.
Think of our brave soldiers, who were on the borders, protecting us from our enemies. Their was no Diwali for them. They were busy saving our borders while we were celebrating Deepawali. Think of their families.
Just think of those Doctors and nurses who were busy in the Hospitals with their patients. They were busy saving the lives of their patients and hence could not celebrate Deepawali.
Think of those people, working in railways, as Guards and Drivers. When the world was celebrating Deepawali, they were away from their families, performing their duties. They were busy running the trains on time, so that you could travel and meet your near and dear ones, on this festivals.
Recent visit of the American President Mr.Barack Obama, on Deepawali festival, had kept  security services of our country busy. The holidays of all security personnel had been cancelled. They could not even think of the festival. Deepawali was also not meant for them.
Think of those poor population of the country who were busy earning their daily bread. How could they celebrate the festival with an empty stomach?
Their were many other people who could not celebrate the festival. But life for them did not stop. They are still living and enjoying life in their own way. Their work is their festival.
So next time when you celebrate Deepawali, just think that there are also some people who are deprived of celebrating the festival.

The Festival of Dipawali

Today we are celebrating Diwali festival. Deepawali, the literal meaning of which in Sanskrit is a row of lamps. Filling little clay lamps with oil and lighting them in rows all over the house is a popular tradition.
Deepawali is a festival where people from all age groups participate. They give expression to their happiness by lighting earthen lamps, decorating the houses, bursting firecrackers and inviting near and dear ones to their households for participating in the feast.
Lakshmi-Puja is performed in the evenings. Devotional songs  in praise of Goddess Laxmi are sung.  Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped in every Hindu household. Houses and business premises are renovated and decorated. Entrances are made colorful with lovely traditional motifs of Rangoli designs to welcome Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. To indicate her long-awaited arrival, small footprints are drawn with rice flour and vermilion powder all over the houses. Lamps are kept burning all through the night. The traditional gifts like Lakshmi Ganesh coins, idols, puja thalis etc are quite popular on Diwali.
In the midst of today's busy lifestyle, Diwali gives an opportunity to pause and be grateful for what we have, to make special memories with family and friends, to laugh and enjoy what life offer us.Though the festival of Deepawali has undergone some changes, in due course of time, yet it has continued to be celebrated since the time immemorial. Every year, the festive season of Diwali comes back with all the excitement and merriment. Times may have undergone a sea change but customs and traditions remain the same.
With the evolution of the lifestyle, more and more technology has been included but the spirit of celebration remains the same. Earthen lamps may have been replaced with stunning electric illuminations, dress code may have changed, but the custom and tradition of performing puja has been carried very well through generations
Diwali is such a wonderful festival, a time of giving and sharing, a time to catch up with people, in other words its time to catch up with the little joys that we keep overlooking for the remaining part of the year.

Mahatma Gandhi In Jabalpur.

Mahatma Gandhi's longest and most important stay in Jabalpur was in 1933 at the "Beohar Palace" of Beohar Rajendra Simha. Bapu was accompanied by Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan,Ravishankar Shukla, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, Khurshed Nariman, Abul Kalam Azad, Jamnalal Bajaj, Dr Syed Mahmud, Mahadev Desai, etc., and a meeting of AICC/CWC was held at the "Beohar Palace"

An important landmark event was the holding of the Tripuri Congress session in 1939 that was presided over by Subhash Chandra Bose. Politically under Lokmanya Tilak's direction, Jhanda Satyagraha was launched with success, Mahatma Gandhi visited 4 times and famous Congress session was held at 'Vishnudatt Shukla Nagar' at TilwaraGhat (near Jabalpur) in 1939 when Subhash Chandra Bose was elected the Congress President against the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi. A memorial Kamania gate was erected in city.
Like any other city, Jabalpur also mourned Mahatma Gandhi's mytyrdom in 1948. Because of Bapu's strong linkages with Jabalpur and a very special love for it, his mortal remains were brought to the city. After going through the entire city, the urn containing Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in holy river Narmada by Pt. R.S. Shukla, Beohar Rajendra Simha, Seth Govindas and others on 12 February 1948 in TilwaraGhat where a massive unprecedented condolence meeting was held and addressed by these national leaders, great freedom-fighters and Gandhian-philosopher from Jabalpur.

Superstitions

Why do people follow such stupid type of customs? Why are people so superstitious? Recently I read a news about such a custom.
As part of a ritual in a temple in Maharashtra's Jalna town , children were hurled from a height of 40ft, in the belief that it would enhance the kids physical health and stamina. The temples in Jalna town have witnessed the tradition of hurling young children for two centuries. The ritual is carried out by the temple priest, who throws the child, to land safely in the hands of devotees waiting underneath, holding a cloth. Thousands of devotees witnessed the ritual in the Navratri festival.
Now, what do you say? Is such a custom relevant in todays scientific world? On one hand we say that we are modern people and on the other hand we follow such superstitions.! Not one person among the thousands witnessing said anything or tried to raise voice against it .
We all believe in superstitions.  In nearly every brain is found some cloud of superstition. When it comes to India everything is possible.
Superstitions were born with an aim to protect and are based on sound reasoning. But such superstitions that are not based on reason or knowledge should be abolished. It is up to the government to put an end to such rituals being held publicly .

Jabalpur, during the Independence Movement of 1857.

In Jubbulpore (Jabalpur), the first sparks for struggle for Indian independence from the British Raj were lit by Gadadhar Tiwari on 16 June 1857 when he opened fire on his European superiors. He was later blown publicly from the mouth of a canon. His supreme sacrifice did not go waste as the movement caught momemtum in the region but was short lived.
It broiled for more than four months during which the British were petrified, became extremely vulnerable and dreaded the worst. They ran out not only of support but also of supplies and were besieged in their own citadels. They survived only because a local banker/merchant came to their rescue which bought them time for reinforcements to arrive.
The 1857 struggle was locally spearheaded by gond Raja Shankar Sahi and his son Yuvraj Raghunath Sahi who were later arrested and detained in a jail which still exists near DRM office. The movement culminated tragically following martyrdom of Raja Shankar Sahi and Yuvraj Raghunath Sahi from the mouth of a canon on 18 September at the very spot where Lady Elgin Hospital now stands.
Subsequently, their supporters and masterminds Jagat Singh Rajput, Beohar Aman Simha, Ganga Mishra, Sooraj Prasad and others went underground and never surfaced. Their estates and assets were confiscated.

In Search Of New Ideas

One of the most famous Brands says,"An Idea can change your life"
Our minds are like bank accounts which keeps depositing good ideas, positive thoughts and pleasant experiences. Our minds are thought-factories and can produce either positive or negative thoughts. Ideas are our raw materials to develop and grow.
All the famous business concerns today have a panel of experts whose main work is to generate new ideas and promote their products. They do this to survive in todays growing world of competition. We daily face new challenges in life and these challenges can be confronted by creating awareness among ourselves.

We should be  always creative because creativity leads to the generation of new ideas. If new ideas are not created we would easily get bored. This will affect our progress and development.
We often get bored in our daily life doing the same things again and again. Therefore we should think up new ideas to brighten our lives. This search of new ideas should be a never ending process, than only we can get success in life.

India vs Australia 2nd test .A Quick Review.

India beat Australia today to win the second test by 7 wickets. This was a clean sweep by India as they already had the 1st test up their sleeves. It was a team effort as said by Sachin Tendulkar, who was also the hero of the match.
It was a tremendous effort  by Sachin , making 214 runs in the 1st innings and 53 not out in the 2nd innings, which also won him the man of the match and man of the series award.
But we should also not forget the efforts made by Murali Vijay who made 139 & 37 runs in the 1st & 2nd innings resp. A beautiful maiden century made by him.Their was also Pujara who made a nice 72 runs in the 2nd innings. Besides Sachin, these two fellows ,M.Vijay and Pujara were at their best. They are new but played well. They should be given more chances. Others did not make much differences, although their contribution was also counted.
The Bowlers also did well. Harbhajan and  Pragyan Ojha did a nice job getting 6 wickets each in both the innings. Not to forget Zaheer Khan and Sreesanth , who took a total 4 & 2 wickets resp. Together these four bowlers kept Australia on the back foot.
Also a nice captaincy on part of M.S.Dhoni , who guided his team efficiently throughout the series.
And overall once again , a great effort by Sachin Tendulkar, crossing 14000 runs , making a Double, and also highest runs 267 in this test. It was simply superb. I must say that he is indeed like an old wine getting better and better day by day.
                  HATS OFF TO SACHIN TENDULKAR.

The Essence Of Trust.

A little girl and her father were crossing a bridge.
The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter:
"Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river." The little girl said:
"No, Dad. You hold my hand."
"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.

"There's a big difference," replied the little girl.
"If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you will never let my hand go."

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting them to hold yours...

MY JABALPUR

Balancing Rock

BSTONE.jpg
Jabalpur is  famous for eroded volcanic rock formations called as Balancing Rocks of Jabalpur. This rock is situated near the base of Madan Mahal Fort, in Deotal in a place called Shailparna. It has one rock balancing on the other with just a human finger's space between the two. This monolith even survived a major earthquake in the city and did not even budge from its place.

Chausath-Yogini (Sixty Four female Yogis)
Situated atop a hill rock and approached by a long flight of steps, the Chausath-Yogini Temple commands a singularly beautiful view of the Narmada flowing through the jagged gorge of Marble Rocks in Bhedaghat. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this 10th century temple has exquisitely carved stone figures of deities belonging to the Kalchuri period. According to a local legend, this ancient temple is connected to the Gond Queen Durgavati's palace through an underground passage.

LamhetaGhat.
The holy location is few kilometers upstream of the Marble Rocks which is accessible from the Dhuadhar Waterfall as well as Tilwara-Medical bypass. It is said that last rites performed here has same significance as at Gaya. There is also a shani kund, extremely beneficial to those affected by Shani-Dev. Most importantly, there are several beautiful and historic temples constructed by the Beohar dynasty between 16-18th century. The entire temple complex, housing about 6-7 temples and a dharmshala on the banks of Narmada, is collectively referred-to as "Shankarji Maharaj Mandir Parisar"

MadanMahal  Fort

Built by the Gond ruler Maharaja Madan Sahi, in 1116 atop a rocky hill, the fort dominates the skyline and provides a panoramic view of the town and the country side around it.
It rises to an approximate height of 500 meters above the ground and was once the Pleasure Palace of Raja Madan Shah, the son of Rani Durgavati.
Queen Durgavati had used it as a Watch tower and the architecturally designed rooms in front of the main structure were probably used to house the military troops of the rulers who lived here.

The Navratri Festival.

The Navratri commences on the first day (pratipada) of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Ashwin. The festival is celebrated for nine nights once every year during the beginning of October, although as the dates of the festival are determined according to the lunar calendar, the festival may be held for a day more or a day less.

Hindu festival of worship of Shakti and dance & festivities. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi is worshiped. They are:-
1.  Shailaputri.
2.  Brahmacharini
3.  Chandraghanta
4.  Kushmanda
5.  Skandamata
6.  Kaatyayani
7.  Kaalratri
8.  Mahagauri
9.  Siddhidaatri

Millions of Hindu women consider Navaratri each year's primary festival, the one they can most deeply connect to. Many see it as a way to commune with their own feminine divinity. A widespread practice honors the Goddess in every woman by inviting young girls to the family's home, feeding them and offering new clothes. Navaratri is a time to present to the Goddess our silent requests. We pray morning and evening, the women fast.

On the tenth day, Vijayadashami, the festival culminates in the triumph of the Goddesses over the demon Mahishasura.

At the end of the celebration, in all Her glory, the exquisitely crafted Durga murti, with countless adornments, is taken to a river, where it is immersed. It is said that this final ritual returns the Goddess to Her eternal home in the Himalayas--until next year's Durga Puja.

BHEDAGHAT

Marble Rocks

This small village of Jabalpur district situated on the banks of river Narmada and widely famous for its marble rocks is at a distance about 25 km from Jabalpur by road.  Soaring in glittering splendour, the marble rocks at Bhedaghat rise to a hundred feet on either side of the Narmada. The serene loveliness of the scene is one of cool quiet, the sunlight sparkling on the marble-white pinnacles and casting dappled shadows on the pellucid waters. The area serves as a source of marble, the marble statues and sculptures made by local sculptors are famous throughout the country.

Dhuandhar

The famous waterfall is located just 25 km from Jabalpur. The Narmada making its way through the Marble Rock's narrows down and then plunges in a waterfall known as Dhuandhar or the smoke casade. So powerful is the plunge that its roar is heard from a far distance. The falls and the breaking of the volume of water at the crest present an awesome spectacle of Nature's power unleashed.
